Control Software Applications
Z Technology provides with each R-500 Series Meter in Quick Basic source and executable form the following DOS based control software applications.
Single: Continually takes measurements of a single user chosen frequency. Measurements can be spaced in time from fractional seconds, to several hours. Measurement data is displayed to the PC screen, and can be saved to a comma delimited text file.
Measure Now: Continually monitors the ENTER key, when pressed, takes a measurement at a user chosen frequency, allows the user to add a comment for each measurement. All information is displayed to the PC screen, and can be saved to a comma delimited text file.
Scan: Continually takes measurements of a band of evenly spaced contiguous user selected frequencies. User may set the time between scans, the start frequency, step size, and number of steps. Measurement data is displayed to the PC screen, and can be saved to a comma delimited text file.
File Control: Allows a user to create and run control files. Control files contain a list of user selected contiguous or non-contiguous frequencies, an optional starting time, a time delay between groups of measurements, and count of measurements to be taken. All data is displayed on the PC screen, and can be saved to a comma delimited text file.
Menu: Accesses many of the R-500 Series features that are available via the Serial port with a simple on screen menu. Some features included are Set Frequency, Read Signal Level, Read/Write Meter Setup, Read/Write Meter Memory, Read/Write Meter Time, Store/Recall User Memory, Lock/Unlock Attenuators, Change Meter Address, Reset Meter.
Status: The very simplest of all the Control applications. It simply interrogates the Status of the meter and reports the results. There is no error checking in this program, so user input must be correct.
GPS Compatibility: Single, Measure Now, Scan, and File Control applications each enhanced to include GPS compatibility. Each application adds GPS Latitude and Longitude tags to the information displayed on the PC screen and saved in the comma delimited text file. Measurements that include GPS position tags can be time or distance based. Time based measurements use the PC clock to measure a time interval between measurements. Distance based measurements use the GPS Latitude and Longitude information to measure a distance interval between measurements.
PLOT: Reads the comma delimited text files from the GPS compatible applications above and displays a color coded plot of the acquired data. The signal level associated with each color may be user adjusted. Full Zoom, Pan, and Scaling capability are included.
